Judge Daniel Barker To Retire from Court


Appointed in 2001 by Governor Hull, Judge Daniel Barker served 10 years on the appellate court bench before announcing his retirement, effective December 31, 2011. For more information concerning Judge Barker’s distinguished legal and judicial careers, click here.   Judge Barker’s retirement creates a vacancy on the Division One bench.  Individuals from Maricopa County interested in applying for appointment to the Court of Appeals must submit a detailed written application to the Appellate Court Commission.   That application and the details concerning timing of submission, supporting letters and phone calls, and composition of the Commission can be obtained here.  The Commission has 60 days to investigate and interview qualified applicants and to make nominations.  The appointment will be made by Governor Brewer.
