Court of Appeals Career Day

On November 17, 2011, 7th and 8th Graders from Cholla Middle School visited the Court of Appeals and took part in the inaugural Court of Appeals Career Day.  The students were treated to presentations from staff including Vice Chief Judge Patrick Irvine; Chief of Security Danny Cordova; Deputy Clerk Stacy Stolz; Chief Staff Attorney Anthony Mackey; Judicial Assistant Cecilia Samarripas;  Acting I.T. Director James Towner, Ruth Willingham, Clerk of the Court; and special guest Supreme Court Justice W. Scott Bales.  The presentations gave the students some insight into the different roles that employees play within the court, as well as the different jobs that the various presenters had prior to their court experience.

After the presentations, the students broke out into smaller groups for lunch and had the chance to ask questions to the presenters, as well as other members of the court, who were sharing their lunch tables.  The students asked a range of questions, and both the students and the Court staff were able to walk away with new information.

The Court of Appeals would like to thank teacher Heidi McKeever, her class, Honeybears BBQ, and all the volunteers from the court who made this day memorable to all involved.
