Jobs - The Selection Process
Some positions may take approximately 4 to 6 weeks to fill although many positions are often filled much quicker. After you respond to the Validation Email, your resume is delivered immediately to the Hiring Manager for review.
The Selection Process may include a telephone interview, a writing sample, a supplemental questionnaire for further consideration, an informal meeting with the hiring manager, an oral presentation during the formal interview, and one or possibly two interviews with the interview panel. Candidates may also be asked to take a variety of computer skills tests, such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, proofreading, typing, etc. depending on the skills necessary for the position. (Test scores are not revealed to candidates.)
Only those applicants whose education, training and experience most closely meet the needs of the position may be invited to interview. If you need a special accommodation to participate in the interview process, you should make your request at the time you are contacted by the Hiring Manager to schedule the interview.
Positions at the Arizona Supreme Court are not covered by the State Merit System. Employees of the Supreme Court do not follow the Executive Branch personnel rules. In addition to being a separate branch of government, all employees of the Supreme Court are - by constitution - "at will." This means that there is not an appeals process or a grievance committee. But it also means that the Supreme Court has more flexibility in terms of leave policies and new programs. Although the Supreme Court does not follow the state's personnel rules, we do have our own policies, including a termination policy.
All finalists must undergo a criminal history records check. Prior to receiving an offer, the Supreme Court will verify your education and employment history and contact your professional references. When asked to provide your references, please make sure you provide up to date contact information for them and let them know to expect our call.
